VIDEO: Lana Del Rey “Young And Beautiful”

The clothes are in stores, the soundtrack available, and the film has released. The Great Gatsby has arrived, but fashionably late is Ms Lana Del Rey with her music video for “Young And Beautiful”. The love-filled and haunting track can be heard several times in the film, as the theme of Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio) and Daisy Buchanan (Carrie Mulligan)’s great romance.
Given Lana’s past videos, and the glitz and glam of the movie, I thought we’d see Lana in the ’20s set in West Egg with flashbacks to a great love of hers (“Born To Die” style). But she instead has put out a simple video of the orchestra version of her song, which honestly, is much better than my original thought. She channels Marilyn Monroe with wavy hair and rocks white gold hoop earrings and primped out nails as the video focuses on Lana and her emotions during the number.

Travel Music: ‘The Great Gatsby’ Soundtrack

It’s finally here! Following the world premiere of the much anticipated Baz Luhrmann version of The Great Gatsby, the entire soundtrack has been released.
Spearheaded by Jay-Z, both in putting together the eclectic masterpiece and as the first track, the soundtrack brings together rap kings, rockstars and pop sirens to show who our Roaring Twenties jazz artists and flappers of today are.
Joined with sound clips of Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio), Jay-Z kick’s off the party with “$100 Bill” where he references the past and present wealth, celebs, and historical moments. His song is followed by a cover of the late Amy Whinehouse’s “Back To Black” from Andre 3000 and Beyoncé. Mrs. Carter get’s covered herself later in the soundtrack by Emeli Sandé & The Bryan Ferry Orchestra performing a fantastic jazz take on “Crazy In Love.”
Mud Runs Get Gayer

Mud runs have been an ‘it’ thing to do for the sport enthusiasts and those who just want share photos of their dirty selves at the event on Facebook—not judging, I’d be doing the exact same thing…#mudrun. Men and women have been sliding around the mud (or newer variations like the cleaner foam run) for years now, in either very little clothing or festive costumes. You’d think someone would’ve thought of a gay mud run sooner, but alas it has arrived and is coming to New York this Pride season.
Out-Fit Challenge is booking itself as the first LGBT mud run, and the organization held its first event this past Miami Beach Gay Pride. What makes this event more unique than the obvious, is that the company provides proceeds of every dollar earned to national and local LGBT charity organizations.
One World Trade Center & Five of the Highest Observations Decks on Earth

Proving bigger is better (for great scenic views of a city), New York’s One World Trade Center is set top out at 1,776 ft, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
CNN states that construction crews will be raising the final two sections of a 408-foot spire to the top of One World Trade Center on Monday morning, which will make the building the tallest in the Western Hemisphere (it already stands as the tallest building in New York City). A stainless steel beacon weighing almost six tons will be the final piece put in place to give the building an iconic height of 1,776 ft.
Earlier this month, detailed plans for the building’s state of the art observatory were revealed. ABC News shared that the One World Observatory will occupy floors 100-102 of the building (at 1,250 ft), provide 360-degree panoramas of New York and New Jersey, and include dining options, a souvernier shop, and an event space.
Gay Marriage For Uruguay & New Zealand

The past week has brought great progress for the LGBT community worldwide in the fight for marriage equality. Last Wednesday, Uruguay, the first South American country to allow civil unions, legalized same-sex marriage when the country’s lower house members overwhelmingly voted in favor of the bill—71 out of 92 members!
“We are living a historic moment,” said Federico Grana, a leader of the Black Sheep Collective, a gay rights group that drafted the bill proposal. “In terms of the steps needed, we calculate that the first gay couples should be getting married 90 days after the promulgation of the law, or in the middle of July.”
Now just one week after Uruguay, New Zealand joins as the 13th location in the world where same-sex marriage is fully legalized, and it is also the first in the Asia-Pacific region to do so, according the Associated Press.
London Welcomes Electric Daisy Carnival – Tiesto, Avicii, Steve Angello, & More

This one is for you music travelers! On July 20, the annual electric festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, will make its first European appearance in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. From Insomniac Events, the festival is the largest North American electronic music festival and dance music event, and shows every summer throughout the states (this year in Las Vegas, New York, and Chicago) and Puerto Rico.
The London edition will be produced in partnership with U.K. festival brand Cream, which Billboard reports as a union potentially more meaningful than just the one event. This thought is due to Cream founder and CEO James Barton serving as president of Electronic Music for Live Nation since it acquired his company in May 2012. Its involvement could indicate that Insomniac, long reported to be for sale, is close to sealing a deal with Live Nation as well.
PHOTOS: Jeffrey Fashion Cares 2013

Last week, the 10th Annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares fundraising event brought together the crème of New York’s fashionistas aboard The Intrepid to raise awareness (and over $811K) for LGBT organizations and people living with HIV/AIDS. Founder Jeffrey Kalinsky and event chairs Dan Rothman and Todd Sears were on hand to greet all of the star guests, and kicked off the festivities with host Emmy Rossum.
Among Rossum, other celebs in attendance included Cyndi Lauper (who presented Broadway legend Jerry Mitchell with an award), androgynous model Andrej Pejic, former hockey player Sean Avery, and Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger’s daughter-turned-model, Ireland Baldwin, among others.

JetBlue Celebrates Gay Couple
A destination selection is only part of your next travel adventure. Then there is the process of selecting a place to stay, deciding to rent a car or to cab it everywhere, and of course, how you’ll get there in the first place. If flying is part of your journey, why not select an airline that is vocal on supporting the LGBT community—or even better, ones that show you the support in person during your flight experience.
Recently, JetBlue shared the story of fiancées Rick and Liam, and their journey from Burbank, CA to New York City—to wed in a state where their marriage would be legal.
