As the second largest city in Israel, Tel Aviv is known to be the country’s culture hub with modern lifestyle offerings. The city has a memorable nightlife scene, a range of cafes and restaurants of Mediterranean and international cuisine, architectural and historical gems throughout, and white sand beaches that visitors will never want to leave. There’s a number of different places to stay in Tel Aviv, but among them is the city’s newest luxury boutique hotel hotspot, The Norman Tel Aviv.

Officially opened in December, with a soft opening in the late summer, I had the pleasure of staying at The Norman Tel Aviv a few weeks ago. It was during the city’s low season, but that was weather of the high 60s °F which felt like summer to me. Located in the heart of the White City (a UNESCO heritage site that refers to the 1930’s architecture and key area to know for design travelers), the hotel is near the popular Rothschild Boulevard and a short walk away from the beach. It is made up of two early 20th century Bauhaus-style buildings that are connected by a garden area with beautiful citrus trees that are just lovely to wake up to each morning. Guests can easily feel like a local here.

There are 50 spacious rooms and suites in total to choose from in the sophisticated hotel. The bedrooms are housed in the main building and the suites are in the second building beyond the small garden. Design plays a huge role at The Norman and for the guests, with all the rooms (bedroom and non) and suites with their own unique design elements that make every part of the hotel a new area to adore or take a selfie in. The interiors of the buildings are filled with 1920s themed custom furnishings, different tile schemes, and wooded floor carvings in the main area. Modern art is featured throughout the hotel, with over 100 pieces from local Israeli artists. No room is ever the same due to the amount of art in the hotel. I had a fabulous Garden Suite (main photo), which had a living room and bedroom area, that I wanted to move into. Highlights in the suite for me aside from the design aspects included the touch screen lighting system (below), superb comfortable bed, and the locally made citrus bath products.

There’s a library-esque bar and two restaurants on-site. The main restaurant, The Norman Restaurant, serves Mediterranean dishes all day and night, and the other is the Japanese tapas-style restaurant Dinings, which is the second outpost of the same one in London, and it’s only open for dinner and located the third level in the main building. Both are popular with locals and offer outdoor seating. Other hotel amenities include a rooftop pool and sun-bathing deck with great views of the city, various lounges and nooks, bikes that can be borrowed to use in the city, a fitness center and spa services. The staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions of things to do or see (both nearby and far), and the hotel offers various unique, special city experiences that can be arranged for guests. All the amenities, design and location of hotel provided the necessitates for a memorable time in Tel Aviv – which was extra special for me as it was my first time in Israel (which was perfect as I love city travel).

Definitely worth a visit for drinks or dinner if you find yourself in Tel Aviv. but if you decide to spend a few nights at The Norman Tel Aviv you may not want to leave!
