In this edition of Daily Essentials, I focus on accessories in the color that you can never go wrong with, black. Chic by definition, having an outfit or accessories set based on black will always look good. However, it can look better and last you longer when you move from fast fashion items and upgrade to more luxurious products. Read the rest of this entry
Changing up my travel grooming essential series a little, I’ve put together a set of men’s grooming products to have a nice clean face while in transit and during your trip, and paired it with an all purpose ready scent. Whether you’re in the U.S. Virgin Islands like I was or elsewhere, you’ll be fresh and ready to go about your day. All are also under 3.4 ounces:
- Fresh Shave – The eShave Travel Shaving Kit includes a pre shave oil, shaving cream, after shave cream and a badger hair shaving brush to use if you want to make your hotel’s bathroom like home, but you also just use your hands instead. Offered in four scents, I enjoyed the sweet lime scent of the Verbena Lime. ($45)
- Worry Free Face – Lab Series Pro LS All-In-One Face Treatment offers four skincase benefits in a travel friendly bottle. It soothes razor burns, moisturized the face, can minizmie lines and wrinkles over time and helps control shine, so pretty much takes care of your entire face for you after you shave. ($29)
- All Occasion Fragrance – Gucci Guilty fragrance features a moderate yet manly floral scent to spray on once you’ve cleaned up your face and are ready to head out. Notes include lavender, orange flower and cedarwood. ($88)
- Keep Fresh While On The Go – Niche For Men are male face and body deodorizing packaged wipes that fold to a hand towel (9″ x 11″) to help you fight sweat and any unpleasing smells from it, while cleansing and moisturizing the skin. More about them here. (Starts at $3 for 2)
- To Store It All – The Coach Crosby Leather Travel Kit is a spacious Italian leather dopp kit that has inside open pockets and enough space to also store any small electronics or cords. ($168)
During my recent trip to St. Croix, where I experienced all of its Caribbean wonders from land to sea, I stopped in the town of Christiansted to show how you can style a printed geometric patterned T-shirt while down in the U.S. Virgin Islands or during your summer months back home. In Christiansted you’ll find 18th-century Danish-style pastel stone buildings and lush gardens and greens which were a perfect background for the tee I had in mind to show.
This bold patterned tee from Lactose L!VE, which unfortunately is not available at the moment, shows how you can contrast the tropical greens around. I styled it up with accessories such as a toggle bracelet from Coach’s new collaboration, Coach + Philip Crangi, a pair of gold framed aviators and leather driving shoes, but kept the look summer casual with sun-washed khakis.
The latest in Coach’s designer collaborations is with New York-based jewelry designer Philip Crangi for a limited edition collection of braid bracelets, buckle belts, key rings and more men’s leather accessories with brass elements. Each of the unique pieces’ brass features have been left in their raw natural state overtime, which has resulted in aged, beautiful colors that pop over the quality leather. The Coach + Philip Crangi collection is available online now and in select stores in May, and prices range from $128-$168.
In this edition of Vee Travels’ In The Bag series, essential accessories for traveling Cancún, Mexico. Shot at the Moon Palace, these accessories mix a little luxury with simple travel and tropical necessities that’ll keep you stylish and happy.
Tote – Coach
The sophisticated Coach Bleecker Day Tote In Bar Stripe Leather makes a colorful statement with the sky blue stripes, but its gold hardware adds the refined look to the bag. Spacious with large pockets inside (one zip and another with snap closure, it can be carried by its leather handles or a detachable nylon shoulder/crossbody strap. Large and durable for 15″ laptop as well.
Swimwear – Zara
You can’t go wrong by selecting a floral or tropical print swimwear for the Caribbean, my selection is a clean black and white design from Zara (not available anymore, but here’s another style). The key to swimwear is picking one for your body, but a good rule of thumb to keep in mind is to avoid purchasing ones that go past your knees. Swim shorts with an 6-8″ inch seam should be able to work and look good for men of most heights and body types.
Seeing Coach men’s fall 2014 collection today seemed very appropriate with the unwanted shift back to the cold weather—get it together spring! With Coach continuing to make its transition into a full lifestyle brand, the fall season will introduce its full men’s footwear collection. For fall, this will include monk strapped shoes, suede boots with a wrap around strap (below), leather sneakers and more.
The rest of the collection features color blocked accessories and bags, houndstooth patterned leather goods, mixed-media bags, colorful leather drawstring bags and winter jackets of sherpa, leather and flannel. Get a taste of the collection below: Read the rest of this entry
Bags are obviously one of my favorite accessories, and the backpack is a style perfect for all types of travel. Whether you’re headed to a tropical destination, getting ready for an outdoors adventure or visiting a luxe hotel in London, there’s a backpack out there that’s perfect for you this spring:

Kenneth Cole Leather Convertible Backpack ($325, Kenneth Cole)
Tumi Alpha Bravo Lejeune Backpack Tote ($445, Tumi)
While in Mexico for the Cancún-Riviera Maya Wine & Food Festival this year, I had some down time for some much need style posts. Shot on the beach of the Moon Palace, a tee and shorts outfit is something that can be enjoyed both at your resort or by the beach. To add a little stylish flair, lightly layer with a short sleeve linen shirt (this one from Perry Ellis). Then to make a personal statement, talk with your accessories.
The Coach Bleecker Day Tote In Bar Stripe Leather makes a refined, yet colorful statement with the sky blue stripes, and then can glow with gold aviators (this fashionable performance pair is Under Armour UA Alloy). For footwear, if you’re not doing sandals go for printed espadrilles like this navy, cloud-turtle design from Sperry Top-Sider as an alternative to florals and tropical plants.
Whether it’s for everyday use or travel, you can’t go wrong with a good tote bag. Leather totes can be used year round, and are great for work if you need your laptop or have a lot of paperwork to carry. Step up your tote game with the various faux and real leather styles below:
