Preppy Chic Style for City Exploring

preppy-chic-travel-outfit-3

Having some major Europe withdrawals as I put together this post! While in Budapest last month with the Corinthia Hotel Budapest for my AskMen.com article I had time to do some city exploring. For an afternoon’s outing across the Liberty Bridge over the Danube River, market shopping and afternoon of walking through the Pest side of town (where the market, Corinthia and the majority of the attractions and city life is) I went for a city preppy outfit that I styled up with a few statement accessories: Read the rest of this entry

Outfit: Summer to Fall Styling

summer-to-fall-style-fashion-week-1

While at New York Fashion Week I took advantage of free time I had to shoot a couple of outfits. First up, one to bring you from summer to fall.

Bold prints can be worn year round, but the end of summer is really the last chance you can make bright florals work with the upcoming elements (at least that’s true if you live in the north East Coast, since if you are Los Angeles and Miami you can wear the print all year round). I styled a blue floral-geo print short sleeve button down from Express with black accessories and a tee to contrast the shirt, but added a pair of cerulean blue slacks to balance the overall look. Along with my accessories like the Frank & Oak canvas and leather backpack and Kenneth Cole leather slip-on kicks, I also show the ultimate fashion week essential; a Mophie juice pack helium battery phone case in a metallic green. Seriously, I sadly would not have survived without from all the shows, events, and street style and backstage coverage I did while at NYFW. See more of the look below:

Outfit: How To Dress Up A Black T-Shirt

Expanding my Outfit series to include “how to” guides, figured I’d start off with a styling question that everyone asks themselves: how to style a basic black tee? Simple answer, it’s all about the shoes!

Pair a simple black tee with a pair of slim or skinny jeans (like Mavi’s Daniel style), add favorite accessories and slip on pretty much any statement shoes you feel like that day. Whether it’s a pair of luxury, leather moccasins such as these Killers from Sandro, or a colorful pair of espadrilles or penny loafers, your shoes will standout even more when styled with a black tee.

Style Guide For Music Festivals

music-festival-style-guide

If you find yourself heading to Magic City this weekend for the Ultra Music Festival, I’ve put together a cool guy’s guide for AskMen.com to give you a rundown of who to check out, where to eat, drink and shop in Miami, who to take style inspiration from, and what to wear:

Styling for any music festival, you can never go wrong with skinny jeans, but if the destination is very warm (like Miami), shorts are also a great option—just make sure to go for flat front over cargo styles (those are so over). For tops, go for graphic tees and tanks with funky designs, and make sure to skip out on the usual band, kitsch or ironic T-shirts. For accessories and footwear, old-school chic and plastic sunglasses are great to go from music festival to sunbathing, a colorful or print baseball cap is useful all spring and summer long, and sneakers and slip-ons are good go-tos as you’ll be standing and bouncing around for hours.
