Style Essentials for City Summer Travel

While in Tel Aviv earlier this month, I stayed at the stylish and retro-chic Brown TLV boutique hotel for my first couple of nights in the heart of the city. Along with the hotel’s location and its vibes, my favorite other amenities include the 1970s-themed lobby (or ‘Living Room’), the hotel’s indoor-outdoor bar in the garden area, and rooftop deck where I figured it would be best to share some of my city summer travel style must-haves for this season.

LGBT Life in Tel Aviv and TLV Pride 2015: PHOTOS

tel-aviv-gay-lgbt-pride-march-1

There really is no major international city like Tel Aviv for the LGBT community, which is saying a lot from someone who’s been to several different gay metropolises. Just getting back from an amazing trip to Israel for Tel Aviv Gay Pride 2015, I got to see LGBT life in the “city that never stops” during the largest Pride celebration in Asia.

The Israeli city was (and probably still is) covered with rainbow flags and banners in support for the community for the 17th edition of TLV Pride. You’d think any place can easily just put up these signs of being an ally in order to attract travelers, but the city municipality (which fully hosts and sponsors TLV Pride) makes sure the establishments that do so during Pride are year-long supporters of the community. That’s just one example of how Tel Avivians are supportive of the community, which has no need for a gayborhood as the whole city is like a big one.

Biking in Newport

As part of my road trip to Rhode Island with Toyota, my friend and I spent a day in Newport and went for a bike ride upon arrival.

It was a rather chilly day and I luckily brought along lululemon’s Le Hoodie to help warm up. Made of stretch French Terry fabric for natural breathing, it features a mesh fabric outer-shell for the hoodie to protect you from the elements. It also has a media sleeve in the right pocket to keep your phone in its place and has thumbholes if you want to run with the hoodie on. More about the look and bike below: Read the rest of this entry

Weekend Road Trip to Providence and Newport, Rhode Island

toyota-rav4-car-mirror

Summer is the perfect time to take a road trip in the northeast for the warmer weather in the region and to escape muggy weather in areas like New York city and further south. I recently partnered with Toyota for a road trip in New England, and went up to Rhode Island since was already making plans to visit Providence for a food story I was working on and to check out different areas in the city. Since I would be driving now instead of using the train to visit (which would’ve been easy and comfortable to do leaving from the Tri-State area), decided to also stop by Newport for the beach, biking and mansion exploring.

Gay Travel Guide to Puerto Vallarta

puerto-vallarta-dianas-gay-day-cruise

With Puerto Vallarta celebrating Pride this week, I thought I’d put together and share a guide for on Mexican town as a LGBT destination:

Where to Stay

If you want to stay in the heart of gay-friendly Puerto Vallarta, then the Zona Romantica (romantic zone, also known as the old town) is where you’ll want to look for a place to book. Most of the gay venues and hotels can be found here in the rather bohemian beach area of town with cobblestone streets. Everything is walkable here, with many stays along the beach or just a block away. Read the rest of this entry
