Patrik Ervell Spring 2015 Collection, Customized Shoes and Backstage Moments

Patrik-Ervell-models-nyfw-backstage-1

Patrik Ervell’s spring 2015 collection was inspired by interior and industrial design, and features various technical fabrics such as polyurethane and vinyl on bombers, raincoats and shorts. Among the collection was a transparent vinyl rain duffle, a cerulean polyurethane vented macintosh, tourquise metallic polyurethane track pants, a black leather calfskin racing jacket and a watercolor print silk shirt (one of my favorites).

Also for his spring 2015 presentation, Ervell customized Dr. Marten leather strapped clogs to feature nylon straps in different colors. See how they were put together, get a closer look at the clothes and see the backstage moments with the models during hair, makeup and while getting ready for the presentation: Read the rest of this entry

Billy Reid Spring 2015 Collection and Backstage Moments

For his upcoming spring collection Billy Reid presented with a runway show at the Refectory in the Highline Hotel, New York once again. I got a chance to be backstage, but first, the clothes.

The spring 2015 collection is said to be built from the concept of easing silhouettes and softening the structure and fabrics of the garments to create a modern, urban take on unstructured soft dressing. This resulted in comfortable outfits with light tailoring for a relaxed-chic looks as show by the above. Patterns played a role of course, as did oversized T-shirts, airy outwear, and long shorts and cropped pants paired tassel loafers, Espadrilles, K-SWISS leather sneakers or other footwear.

I’ll be sharing my favorites from the collection once NYFW wraps up, but in the meantime here’s my photo diary of being backstage at Billy Reid spring 2015. My favorite photo has to be the model selfie I stumbled upon when they were getting ready to rehearse, and possibly also Billy cooling off the models before the show by pressing iced cold cans on their necks. See those, grooming, dressing and more moments below:  Read the rest of this entry

Men’s Street Style From New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015

mens-street-style-fashion-week-andrew-villagomez-1

It’s been a busy New York Fashion Week so far, but I’m happy to finally share some of my street style photos from this season. Find a mix of the men’s style from editors, buyers, models off-duty, fellow bloggers and other men I found before and after attending shows at Industria Studios for New York Men’s Day, Duckie Brown and Parke & Ronen, the High Line Hotel for Billy Reid, and Richard Chai at the Lincoln Center (and general #NYFW moments).

A couple of the photos below I published on NewNowNext, and more will be online soon at Out, Latina (women and men!) and one more publication that I’m excited to share when it goes live. I’ll share those on here and via social media – shameless plug if you aren’t already following me on Twitter and Instagram. Enjoy and let me know your favorites! Read the rest of this entry

Perry Ellis Spring 2015 Collection + The Models Backstage

perry-ellis-spring-2015-backstage-andrew-villagomez-1

Perry Ellis returned to New York Fashion Week this season under new Creative Director Michael Maccari to show hi debut collection. For inspiration for the collection, Maccari looked at the art of Sean Scully for color and overall direction. “We are calling it Changes and Horizontals. Linear groupings, color play, and a nod to ‘active’ with the repetition of lines in his work became the foundation for print and trim details,” the designer shared earlier with me for AskMen.com, adding that the overall look is graphic, neat and colorful. This resulted in well structured suits and graphics prints on sweatshirts, shorts and bomber jackets were in the collection, plus light and technical outwear that included anoraks and cropped summer parkas.

I’ll be picking my favorites shortly towards the end of fashion week, but I got a chance to go backstage to bring you a look behind the scenes as the models got their grooming on: Read the rest of this entry

Backstage With Parke & Ronen Spring/Summer 2015

parke-ronen-models-backstage-fashion-week-andrew-villagomez-1

New York Fashion Week has officially begun and among the earliest runway shows was menswear label Parke & Ronen. Partners Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel sent pastel trousers and jackets, color-blocked polos and tropical prints down the runway—plus solid and color-blocked trunks, bikinis and tailored trunks with prints and stripes.

I went backstage to cover for Logo TV’s NewNowNext bog and another exciting menswear project that I’m working on, plus Vee Travels of course. Below are photos that appear on NewNowNext and a lot of extras I shot. Favorite styles from the collection coming soon! Read the rest of this entry

Outfit: Food Truckin’ in Texas

austin-outfit-ikat-pattern-1

From my Texas road trip with Best Western, one of my favorite things we did was a food tour of Austin through its colorful and cheeky (and tasty) food trucks. For the outdoorsy dinner crawl in the Texas heat (which since it was over 90 degrees F was luckily more of a bus tour), I sported an ikat pattern top from Territory Ahead, denim shorts I made, and UGG’s lightweight Cantrell suede chukka boot style. Outfit: Bright, Nautical Gingham

gingham-shirt-nautical-summer-1

Instead of going with that blue J.Crew gingham shirt that has its own Instagram account, opt for a brighter option like this one from Vineyard Vines if you want to wear a checked shirt. While it is still summer, have some fun and style it with stylish (and some whimsical) nautical accessories as I had my friend and blog model Hayden wear. Outfit: Summer Rays

While August is coming to end this weekend, there’s still a lot of time to catch some summer rays! The rest of this week I’ll be posting summer outfits to inspire your style during these last week of summer (and before my blog and life goes into full on New York Fashion week mode). If you are traveling to New York for fashion week or another time in September, make sure to stop by Washington Square Park for some r&r. Read the rest of this entry

Daily Essentials: Black Magic

black-luxury-accessories

In this edition of Daily Essentials, I focus on accessories in the color that you can never go wrong with, black. Chic by definition, having an outfit or accessories set based on black will always look good. However, it can look better and last you longer when you move from fast fashion items and upgrade to more luxurious products. Read the rest of this entry
