Fresh from another season of men’s fashion at NYFW: Men’s Spring / Summer 2018, I decided to snap in-between shows to put together a new street style set!

Check out all the styles below, along with some summer styling tips. From the two photos above: a few pops of color can go a long way (main photo), and summer stripes are a must (above – pictured: Anthony Urbano, Nathan McCallum, Marcel Floruss, Christian Bendek, and Moti Ankari).

From an interview with Perry Ellis’ Creative Director Michael Maccari I did for AskMen.com, the designer shared that when it came time to design looks for the 2016 collection he looked to destinations such as Tel Aviv for inspiration.

“It was about the idea of beach cities,” he told me for AskMen while in the backstage area at New York Fashion Week: Men’s, as models walked by in leather sandals that helped further indicate that theme. “I thought [Tel Aviv] was a great mash-up of the two because you’ve got skyscrapers and it’s sort of an urban environment, but then you’re on the beach,” Maccari said.

For Billy Reid’s collection collection shown at ArtBeam, Reid features hand-knit jacquard sweaters and other knits, wide knee-length shorts, polyester trenches and more loose, relaxed styles in a palette of neutrals. It was a sea of earth tones such as oatmeal, cream, bronze and bone, and a few pieces with blue and black. I interviewed the Alabamian designer for AskMen.com, for which Reid said he and his design team wanted to keep things extremely soft and uncluttered.

Backstage at Michael Bastian Spring / Summer 2016

1

Inspired by Bel-Air and old Hollywood, the Michael Bastian Spring/Summer 2016 collection featured uptown preppy wears in a range of pastels, denim, campy prints and patterns, and suiting separates in blues, blacks and stripes. The casuals included cashmere cardigans, cream shorts, flannel shirts, polo shirts and among the accessories, a fabulous banana leaf camouflage print tote and cheeky slippers by Stubbs and Wootton. The NYFWMs show also marked Bastian’s entry into the women’s wear market.
