Backstage at Michael Bastian Spring / Summer 2016
Inspired by Bel-Air and old Hollywood, the Michael Bastian Spring/Summer 2016 collection featured uptown preppy wears in a range of pastels, denim, campy prints and patterns, and suiting separates in blues, blacks and stripes. The casuals included cashmere cardigans, cream shorts, flannel shirts, polo shirts and among the accessories, a fabulous banana leaf camouflage print tote and cheeky slippers by Stubbs and Wootton. The NYFWMs show also marked Bastian’s entry into the women’s wear market.

Must Have: Michael Bastian Chronowing Smartwatch
Earlier this week I got a chance to preview menswear designer Michael Bastian’s new smartwatch at an event hosted by Gilt (where the watch will be exclusively sold). As a summer essential, the polo can be dressed up or down and is offered in the collections of several men’s fashion brands each summer season. See my picks below:

NYFW: Michael Bastian’s Japan-inspired Collection For F/W 2014
Another New York Fashion Week season is among us, and it’s off to a fantastic start with Michael Bastian’s fall/winter 2014 presentation on Tuesday at the Rubin Museum of Art. Inspired by trips to Japan, Bastian’s collection ranged from casual to formal evening wear with different pieces and accessories made with kimono fabric (used in scarves, windbreakers and a kimono itself), or with ethnic and artful embroidery—such as a ‘Samurai armor’ fair isle turtleneck sweater, a track jacket with Mt Fuji on the back and a Godzilla cashmere sweater (which everyone will need right away).
