Gift Guide: 12 Luxury Carry-on Travel Bags You’ll Want For Yourself
Continuing Vee Travels’ gift guide series, this week features luxury carry-on bags that’ll make anyone very happy to receive as a present this holiday, but you’ll probably want to pick one or more of these up for yourself to bring along on your next flight or train ride.
Tumi – Alpha All In One Duffel
Bold use of white and orange are paired with the trendy camo, Tumi’s Alpha All In One Duffel lives up to its name with the functionality to split into four smaller bags. The three exterior compartments each detach from the main duffel and convert to a messenger/brief, a crossbody bag and a tote (which opens up from the section on the right below), leaving a slimmer and sleek carry-all to use on its own as desired. ($495, Tumi)
Mulberry – Small Clipper Leather-Trimmed Canvas Holdall
A small holdall, it makes up for size with its eye-catching blue canvas body. Trimmed with a brown resilient leather and two handles, the shoulder strap is of course detachable. ($950, MR PORTER)
Outfit: Combining American and British Heritage Brands
As we start to say goodbye to the fall season with December’s arrival (and with the recent snow in New York), our autumn wardrobe is here to stay for the winter ahead. Shot just before all the foliage starting leaving Central Park, I styled Vee Travels model James in heritage brands from both sides of the Atlantic for an outfit that you’d just need to throw a coat on and you’ll be all set for a cold winter’s stroll.
American classic Brooks Brothers’ lambswool shawl collar sweater is perfect to keep warm, and has the added feature of suede elbow patches that makes it a sophisticated sweater. I paired the orange sweater with the Milano Fit Brushed Twill Pants (which will work both in the office and on the weekend) and with an olive and purple plaid shirt from J.Crew. I topped off the look with a pair of rugged, scotch grain derby boots from British footwear heritage brand Grenson.

The holiday shopping season is among us, which means it’s time to start thinking gifts. Continuing Vee Travels’ gift guide series, this week features seven iPhone 5/5s cases for each different style and need out there:
Bespoke & Natural Enthusiast: Carved
Design one of kind wooden smart phone skins to give as a gift or purchase a case with one of Carved’s beautiful artwork to give an iPhone the personality to match the owners. Each skin is handmade with the artwork laser-engraved on the wood, with adhesive applied to back which you can add right on your phone. Carved’s skin leaves no adhesive residue when removed, or select one in a case format for easy phone wardrobe change as need. ($24-$49, Carved)
The Mind Easer: Prong’s PocketPlug
For the guy who always forgets his charger, this cool black case comes with flat folding plugs inconspicuously stored in the back of the case. There is an added micro USB port on the side (a bonus but you won’t really need it), and the phone’s speaker is not buffered. Easy to slide the phone on and off, the PocketPlug will soon be available in white and the colors blue, red and pink. ($69, Prong)
Street Style: The High-Fashion Student
In this week’s edition of OUT On The Street, I spotted a stylish student named Sichao on the NYU campus. Dressed in luxury garbs, Sichao pulls off a Jil Sander overcoat with Church’s lace-ups, and a WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie tweed backpack that is on my wish list. See the full look on Out.com, and check out more street style on Vee Travels.

Outfit: A Classic New York Date Night Look
I love the pre-winter season in New York when the city starts to get brighter each night with holiday and winter lights being put up, it’s perfect for a date night stroll. Vee Travels blog model Eric poses as my faux boyfriend for a walk around the classic Rockefeller Center (yes I know touristy, but like Icona Pop’s hit from last year, “I don’t care, I love it!”).
Sticking to bold basic colors is always a good way to go if you aren’t sure what color to wear on a first yet (and blues are good all year round), but make a little statement with your style by adding some a color blocking such as this Express wool peacoat that I styled with an Armani Exchange henley sweater and Zara ankle boots and trousers.
Gift Guide: 6 Men’s Fragrances For Every Occasion
The holiday shopping season is among us, which means it’s time to start thinking gifts. Continuing Vee Travels’ gift guide series, this week covers six great men’s fragrances to use in different occasions and situations:
Make A Statement: Odin’s 11 Semma
Recently released from the New York boutique Odin, the 11 Semma is vibrant, but not overpowering. Using a concoction of chile pepper, clove, myrrh, cinnamon and tobacco leaf, Odin’s 11 Semma offers a sweet, woodland masculine and feminine scent that is perfect for man (or a woman as it is unisex) who wants to stand out. (3.4 oz, $165, Odin)
Vacation Refresher: James Bond 007 Ocean Royale
When James Bond comes to mind, there are a number of ocean and Caribbean scenes to recall, which is why the icon’s fragrance brand went with the sea for the inspiration of the 007 Ocean Royale. The user will feel refreshed when the bergamot, lime, anise and seaweed accord touches his skin, then the Jamaican woods take over to get the user even more vacation ready. (1.7 oz, $40, Khols.com)
Trending: Camo & Polka Dot Patterned Pieces To Get Now
Butch camouflage and whimsical polka-dot patterns are both big for this fall season (separate of course), popping up on shirts, shoes, sweaters, accessories and more. Camo has been on the style board for some time, ever since designers began tweaking the military pattern with Day-Glo colors. Polka dots have been a style staple at least since the 1960s, but this year the pattern is really making the rounds, from couture to street fashion.
Contributing style for NewNowNext.com, I’ve selected pieces to get this season. See a couple selections for each below:
Camouflage

Volcom’s Sub Zero Boots
Volcom’s new footwear line is on point with these comfortable survival boots offering just a hint of camo. Rock it in the city or in the wilderness. ($160, Volcom)
Joe Fresh Camo Sweater
A solid crew neck sweater is a fall essential, but for a cooler look this Joe Fresh heather-gray sweater sports blue camoflage arms. ($29, Joe Fresh SoHo)
Expert Vintage Shopping Tips That’ll Make You A Pro
With the recent annual Gentleman’s Vintage Show, I realized that not every man is a vintage shopper and most have no idea where to start. Writing for AskMen.com, I got in contact with David Ornstein, a vintage expert of 40 years and founder of the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show (whom puts on the men’s show, and whose visitors have included Phillip Lim and Jean Paul Gaultier to name a few), to give us 10 quick tips and points that would help vintage shopping virgins become overnight pros — and maybe give you some new pointers if you think you’re an expert already.
See a couple below, and the full list on AskMen.com (including the latest vintage trends, staple pieces to invest in, and a brief histroy lesson on vintage clothing period and popular items):
Street Style: The Statement Coat By Bradley Mounce
In this week’s edition of OUT On The Street, I searched the Flatiron district for some winter style and stumbled upon the fiercest coat on emerging designer Bradley Mounce rocking a rather androgynous coat from his sportswear brand, K’toi. The designer styles them with a pair of Prada two-toned boots, black Levi’s, and a vintage newspaper boy hat. See the full look on Out.com, and check out more street style on Vee Travels.
