NYFW: David Hart’s “Twilight Zone”-inspired Fitted Suits & Vintage Styled Menswear For F/W 2014

Showing his fall/winter 2014 collection at the inaugural New York Men’s Day, designer David Hart told me his influence for the collection came from the late-fifties/early-sixties sci-fi show The Twilight Zone, and classic black and white television as a new medium back in it was entering its heyday.
Writing for a post on Details.com, we saw fitted tuxedos and suit jackets made of materials ranging from English silk to guncheck wool, as well as turtlenecks worn under jackets and round cracked eyewear (a nod to the perennial favorite episode “Time Enough at Last“).

NYFW: Ernest Alexander’s Vintage Biker-inspired Collection For F/W 2014

Showing Ernest Alexander’s fall/winter 2014 collection at the inaugural New York Men’s Day, designer Ernest Sabine told me his influence for the collection came from the biker culture of the Teens and Twenties eras; giving his work an edge this season.
NYFW: Orley’s New York Fashion Week Debut

Catching up on New York Fashion Week posts after finishing up taking street style and behind the scenes photos for Out, Latina and Logo TV, I wanted to share photos and favorites from Orley’s first official fashion week presentation.

For fall/winter 2014, the collection featured beautiful jacquard sweaters and accessories, including geo-patterned gloves that are lined with leather and feature a wrist strap.

Street Style: The Best Winter Menswear Outfits From NYFW F/W 2014

Along with show and behind the scene coverage, I’ve been keep busy shooting street style for Out and Latina magazines. I’ll continue to add street style finds from this fashion week season, but sample some of the best menswear finds so far picked out from my slideshow on Out.com and as a preview of handsome gents I found for Latina.com—plus more of course:

Had the pleasure of spotting Nick Wooster almost each day this fashion week whether was outside, at the Details March issue party or a menswear presentation!

NYFW: Models Behind The Scenes At New York Men’s Day F/W 2014

It’s been a busy New York Fashion Week so far! Following the iPhone photo diary of New York’s Men’s Day, I wrote up an article for Details.com on key pieces and inspirations for each presentation (here). Now let’s take a look backstage:

NYFW: Michael Bastian’s Japan-inspired Collection For F/W 2014

Another New York Fashion Week season is among us, and it’s off to a fantastic start with Michael Bastian’s fall/winter 2014 presentation on Tuesday at the Rubin Museum of Art. Inspired by trips to Japan, Bastian’s collection ranged from casual to formal evening wear with different pieces and accessories made with kimono fabric (used in scarves, windbreakers and a kimono itself), or with ethnic and artful embroidery—such as a ‘Samurai armor’ fair isle turtleneck sweater, a track jacket with Mt Fuji on the back and a Godzilla cashmere sweater (which everyone will need right away).

Stylish Women Found At NYFW SS14
Along with capturing men’s street style photography this New York Fashion Week, I captured women’s as well for Latina Magazine, and it would be a crime not to feature the best dressed ladies I came across.
Girls can have a lot of fun with fashion due to the amount of womenswear options available and range of styles choices they can try, hence there being about 100 times more women’s fashion magazine brands in the world than men’s (which is good or bad depending on how much content you want to read and look at).

NYFW Street Style: Fierce, Glam Fashion Finds On Men
Shooting street style this New York Fashion Week SS14, I spotted glam fashion on several men. See over 20 different men werking everything from gold jewels and flamboyant prints and patterns, to fierce footwear and killer shades. Gendering bending fashion was while alive and well this NYFW, with a couple of the best below:
Loving the legendary fashion and street style photographer Bill Cunningham’s reaction to these punk rockers!
Hairy Finds: Male Models With Beards At New York Fashion Week SS14

As another New York Fashion Week comes to an end, and as I look through all the men’s runway images and studio presentations, I’ve noticed a large use of bearded models among several designers including Lucio Castro, Michael Bastian and N. Hoolywood (respectively pictured above).
This summer beards made a comeback at Paris shows, and America’s Next Top Model (now featuring men) includes a bearded model, Phil Sullivan. Sullivan (top left) actually modeled for Castro this Fashion Week.
No doubt beards have been in style, well groomed and tamed ones of course, but will we see more bearded gents on the catwalk again in February among their clean, shaven brethren? And do we want them to?
