MFW: Fierce, Glam Fashion From John Varvatos AW14
As Milan Fashion Week comes to an end today, one of my favorites this season had to be the fierce, glam fashion rockstars from John Varvatos’ upcoming autumn/winter collection.
As written for NewNowNext: Known for his rock-and-roll aesthetic, John Varvatos took inspiration for his autumn/winter collection from legendary rockers KISS, who also made a surprise appearance on the runway. The show featured models in KISS makeup, plus tight leather jackets, statement coats, slim suits and leather boots. “[John’s clothes] have all those elements that I love in clothes, which are timeless,” said KISS’ Paul Stanley. “There is a style that goes back to some of the great rock ‘n’ roll bands of the 60s.”

MFW: Fierce, Glam Fashion From Dolce & Gabbana AW14
As Milan Fashion Week comes to an end today, one of my favorites this season had to be the fierce, glam fashion knights from Dolce & Gabbana’s upcoming medieval-inspired autumn/winter collection.
As written for NewNowNext: “The Norman period in Sicily is fascinating,” Domenico Dolce told The Telegraph, “It was the first time that the people from the extreme North of Europe fought their way down to the South.” D&G’s Fall 2014 collection featured chain-mail-inspired balaclavas, sheepskin sweaters with studded Gothic crosses, and plenty of prints of ancient Norman kings. I guess Domenico is also a fan of Game of Thrones.

Outfit: The Business Casual Winter City Traveler
The best thing about business casual attire is the versatility it offers travelers. The look can be worn in transit and at your hosting office—which is perfect if you have a meeting right away when you arrive. In this edition of business travel style, a less-is-more outfit for the city commuter this winter.

I styled Vee Travels blog model James in a quarter-zip, mock-neck ribbed sweater from Express, a Ralph Lauren peacoat, Perry Ellis very slim stretch portfolio pants, and to add a little more personality to the outfit, a pair of Original Penguin’s wingtip dress shoes with light blue laces and outsole to contrast the navy pants.
5 Mixed-Media Brown Boots To Get Now

Working on styling different outfits this winter, I noticed a lot of great mixed-media boots out right now that are worth a mention for their great versatility and usefulness this season with the constant weather changes. Mixing leather and wool or suede, or pebbled and smooth leathers, check out five favorites below:

LCM: Burberry Prorsum AW14
The highlight of London Collections: Men’s final day was undoubtedly the Burberry Prorsum menswear presentation in Hyde Park. Designer Christopher Bailey’s autumn/winter 2014 collection featured both neutral solid tones with colorful patterns and prints on over-sized silk scarves, man bags and overcoats.
In a nod to the luxury label’s British heritage according to the Daily Mail, many of the pieces were emblazoned with iconic London imagery, such as the skyline and maps of city streets.

LCM: Oliver Spencer AW14
Part of the final day of London Collections: Men, Oliver Spencer’s autumn/winter 2014 collection featured the designer’s passion of combining modern and classic styles. Charcoal, navy and forest green are the main focus of colors used, along with hints of bright tones such as orange and yellow and the neutrals of tan and black.
The collection is said to have been influenced by “Purism, architecture and London’s ever-evolving subcultures”, and Mr. Spencer’s key pieces include the Shawl Collar Donegal Jacket, Lightweight Nylon Mac, Judo Pants and the Caramel Epsom Coat.

LCM: Hackett London AW14 – Welcome To The Hotel Hackett
London Collections: Men just wrapped up day two of the bi-annual menswear presentations, and Hackett London won me over for their travel inspired autumn/winter 2014 collection. Dubbing the presentation, ‘The Hotel Hackett’, the styles were said to be a “roll call of characters that you might encounter in the lobby of a stylish hotel. These characters include the CEO, the explorer, the travel photographer, the hunter and the graduate.
A couple of the styles were worn by ‘real men’ to bring the concept of the show to life. Among the professional models in all sorts of knitwear, suits, overcoats, blazers and beautiful luggage and bags, British actors Jack Fox and Henry Lloyd Hughes (above) and former international rugby star Thom Evans (though to be fair, he does model in real life) were present, with Jeremy Hackett closing out the show.

LCM: Hardy Amies AW14
Another strong presentation from day one at London Collections: Men, Hardy Amies’ autumn/winter 2014 collection shows British dapper menswear at its finest.
The heritage brand from Savile Row featured neutral on neutral tones with hints of red and blue that have us pay more attention to each coat, sweater, shirt and suit separates, with plaid and stripe in the mix.
LCM: Topman Design AW14
One of the British menswear brands who kicked off the London Collections: Men today was Topman, who gave us some rainy realness (literally).
Chunky sweaters, topcoats, overcoats, mixed media peacoats and raincoats filled out its line up, and those raincoats were put to the test at the end when the models were drenched during the final walk. Watch the of the full show video at the end.
Outfit: How To Add Color Blocking To Your Work Style
Spruce up your work style this winter by adding a little color blocking to your look. If you haven’t ventured into this trend yet, no better time than the present. Shot before the holidays, I styled Vee Travels blog model James to show you how effortlessly it can be done.
I love accessories, no question about that, and when I saw this Coach commuter bag I knew it was perfect this service-y post for guys who haven’t color blocked yet. Using the typical khaki slacks and a striped button down shirt look, I used the color scheme of the bag to add on the rest of the look.
