How Hard Work Pays Off for Travel-ful Life (In Partnership with Don Julio)

don-julio-tequlia-agave

“Work hard with honesty. Never judge anybody.” These are words to live by for a life of happiness, earned success and to help further explore one’s passions such as travel, photography or other life pleasures. I heard this expression in a video about Don Julio González, the man behind the well-known Don Julio Tequila brand that he established in 1942, and I can’t get the messages out of my head. This video is inspiring and uplifting, but also very picturesque that it will make you want to visit Mexico and the agave fields. The clip (which you can watch below) was shared by Don Julio Tequila in honor of Dia de los Muertos and has me reflecting on what I’ve worked for that sets me apart: being a travel journalist and blogger. Italy Travel Photo Diary

cinque-terre-sea-aldo-shoes

Can’t believe it’s mid-September already! Currently I’m traveling through Italy with Intrepid Travel and it’s been quite the adventure as I travel with a group of people who aren’t in media. Most of my travels – if I’m not going somewhere alone or with a buddy – have been with others in the similar industry as me (be it bloggers, journalists or other influencers), but now I’m finding myself sipping vino and enjoying dolce each night with a group of people from all walks of life: mining engineers, a family doctor, teachers and someone in a CSI-like field. Though I’m traveling with such a diverse and fun group, it’s also nice to have my alone time in this beautiful country during my first visit here.

I’ll be putting together a more detailed post of the experience in Italy and with Intrepid Travel in case you’ve been thinking about doing a small group trip such as this, but I wanted to share some photos from Italia that I’ve taken. A lot of these are already posted on my Insta, but there’s a few more below from this journey that has brought me to Venice to Florence and more! Read the rest of this entry

Herschel Supply has once again partnered with Liberty of London and has put out an awesome collection of backpacks and pouches with beautiful, artistic color blocked prints from the British fashion retailer’s library. I brought along the classic Settlement backpack style during my trip to Chile last week.

Must-Have Peruvian Dishes

peru-food-peruvian-cuisine-ceviche-causa

It’s funny, growing up I never liked a lot of the dishes from my Peruvian heritage. Now, whenever it’s offered I can’t get enough. I grew up with a dislike of fish, so the delicious seafood driven dishes the make up like half of Peru’s cuisine offerings never touched my lips until I reached adulthood.

Last month I wrote an article on different Peruvian dishes to know for Thrillist, and happy to share my favorites from the bunch below that are now my go-tos: Read the rest of this entry
