Catching up on New York Fashion Week posts after finishing up taking street style and behind the scenes photos for Out, Latina and Logo TV, I wanted to share photos and favorites from Orley’s first official fashion week presentation.

For fall/winter 2014, the collection featured beautiful jacquard sweaters and accessories, including geo-patterned gloves that are lined with leather and feature a wrist strap.

Another New York Fashion Week season is among us, and it’s off to a fantastic start with Michael Bastian’s fall/winter 2014 presentation on Tuesday at the Rubin Museum of Art. Inspired by trips to Japan, Bastian’s collection ranged from casual to formal evening wear with different pieces and accessories made with kimono fabric (used in scarves, windbreakers and a kimono itself), or with ethnic and artful embroidery—such as a ‘Samurai armor’ fair isle turtleneck sweater, a track jacket with Mt Fuji on the back and a Godzilla cashmere sweater (which everyone will need right away).

When I went to London this winter on a press trip I was able to add a couple extra days to the trip and used one to try out the app first hand. Before flying out, I searched the week before and the days leading to my departure to see what my options could be and where I might be staying. Hotels marked ‘Hip’ and ‘Luxe’ (other hotels categories include ‘Basic’, ‘Charming’ and ‘Solid’) ranged from the Heathrow airport area for $100-$150 for hotels such as the Radisson Blu Edwardian Heathrow, the west side near Earls Court for around $200-250 for hotels such as the Belgraves – A Thompson Hotel, and Central London and SoHo for $200-$350 for hotels such as The May Fair.

Street Style: The Bundled-Up Model
In this street style feature for Out magazine, I wandered around SoHo and found off-duty model Ryan Medel, of New York’s Major Model. He’s sporting an eye-catching mixed-stitch scarf from Brooklyn Industries, and added some casual luxury to his outfit with a watch and boots by Diesel.

Google Glass Gets Stylish Upgrade
Despite the Google Glass becoming a somewhat fashion week trend, the original futuristic/weird frame isn’t something for everyday style. So Google decided to up the ante and is releasing four “feather-light titanium frames” and two new sunglasses, all available with prescription lenses now.
