Gift Guide: 5 Classic Gifts For Men
With the holiday shopping season among us I’ll be posting a set of gift ideas at least once a week for the rest of this month and in December with the topics of travel, grooming, tech, winter style and more! The gift guide series will hopefully help inspire you if you are stuck on what to get for friends, family, and significant others, and you might even want to pickup something for yourself. In this set, classic gifts for men that never go out of style:
1. Watch
A watch has been a timeless gift to give men for all occasions, and has been for centuries. Whether you are looking for a gift for your father, father-in-law, brother, significant other or a good friend, there’s a watch style out there that’s perfect for them. One to keep in mind for its versatility and durability is Victorinox Swiss Army’s I.N.O.X. With a sharp and simple design, the I.N.O.X. is a Quartz watch that features a reinforced stainless steel body that is scratch-resistant, water-resistant and, according to Victorinox, able to survive a three story fall on to a concrete surface, being driven over by a 64-ton tank, survive a washing machine for two hours at 194°, and other extreme occurrences. A removable, comfortable rubber strap gives the watch a modern feature, and the Victorinox I.N.O.X. is available with one in black, navy or olive.
2. Fragrance
Whether you know his favorite scent or you come across one that seems like two would be a good match, a new fragrance is always welcomed.
A scent to consider is Lacoste LIVE! for a fresh scent that has a zesty burst of lime, green leaves, aquatic notes, Guaiac wood and dark liquorice. Perfect for a man to add to his everyday collection—especially is he’s always on the go.
3. Wallet Even with tools like the new Apple Pay, wallets will still be around for at least the next century. With style options from chic to clean to rugged, finding the perfect wallet to gift depends on the personal style. While you can be safe with a classic tan leather double fold, if his taste leans toward the modern and fashion forward, look at styles from Ben Minkoff (which has its collection available at the new Rebecca Minkoff flagship store in SoHo with high, next-generation technology). The Vesper Wallet is available in a royal blue or sleek black and features striped saffiano leather with six card slots.
4. Neckwear
A tie is the safe gift to give when you are stuck on what to get him. Can never have too many and there are countless styles, patterns and fabrics to choose from. Perfect for a last-minute gift and for all levels of familiarity. A striped and solid silk tie is always a safe bet, but to add some personality to your gift, go for a patterned tie or one made from a different material. Brooks Brothers is to explore for options, and my pick for one that is versatile for any kind of man and type of style is the Heathered Herringbone Tie. Crafted from wool and stitched in a herringbone pattern.
5. Outerwear
For an even more personal touch to add to a gift, clothing shows you know his style. A wool coat or jacket is good choice for the winter weather ahead, and a type that can work with various styles is a short wool zip up.
For a style that’s classic but can be dress modern, Gerald & Stewart By Fidelity has a maroon wool work jacket. Features a snap front placket, oversized collar, two path pockets and a flap pocket.
