Along with the new designs to look forward to in the season to come, fashion weeks are a great source for hairstyles to take inspiration from or to try out in your day-to-day styling. While some runway hair looks can be a little out there, for AskMen I took a gathered the best New York Fashion Week hairstyles that are manageable for you (or the man in your life) to get or be inspired by: Read the rest of this entry
While taking photos of men’s and women’s street style at New York Fashion Week this season, I also stumbled upon a number of male models off-duty. Found after presentations at New York Men’s Day and shows from Richard Chai and Lacoste, see over 20 different models I spotted:

Perry Ellis Creative Director Michael Maccari debuted his sophomore collection for the brand this week for the Fall/Winter 2015 season. Inspired by utilitarian clothing, the collection gave workwear styles a modern upgrade to look more functional and luxurious through use of unique wools, technical fabrics and artful suit layering. Olive, tan and navy filled the collection, but there was also a use of abstract and colorful graphic prints. I got a first look at the collection while snapping photos of the models backstage during hair and make up and a rehearsal walk.

Richard Chai always helps kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a bang! This season brought the outerwear game up an notch with patterned cashmere chesterfield coats, various duvet parkas (one with a brilliant geometric camo pattern and another with fur collar), an elegant anorak pullovers, and a couple metallic coats. Chunky sweaters, oversized scarves, vertical stripe and plaid suiting separates, and graphic pullovers made up the rest of the collection that used smart and sporty layering.
I’m personally in my fourth season of covering NYFW and Richard’s was the first official fashion week show I got to see back when I was starting out back in 2013. So needless to say I was very excited to cover backstage this season as a journalist and blogger. See moments below with models such as Noma Han and Abiah Hostvedt, celeb visitors that included George Kotsiopoulos, Pete Wentz and model Miles McMillan, and of course Richard himself:
Over at the Refinery Rooftop at the Refinery Hotel, Gilded Age held its Fall/Winter 2015work wear-inspired collection. Designer Stefan Miljanic was influenced by the 1954 film “On the Waterfront”, which resulted in the use of dark tones the included navy, olive, black, grey and rusty reds. Various denim styles, chunky cashmere sweaters, textured railroad stripe and oxford pants, and printed plaid shirts made up the collection along with outerwear styles of lightly padded parkas, plaid jackets, wool pea coats, and a solid and textured reversible wool bomber. The looks were accessorize with Walk Over Shoes and Kyu Melange leather bags.

(2)XIST Fashion Show SS 2015: André Ziehe, Saville Dorfman, Emilio Flores, Thor Bülow and More Male Models
While I sadly didn’t get a chance to make it to the annual (2)XIST fashion show this year due to having to catch up on projects, I did stalk/follow along on social media. As I wait for the official photos to be released to see the whole spring/summer 2015 collection, I couldn’t help both notice all the eye candy. Read the rest of this entry
Patrik Ervell’s spring 2015 collection was inspired by interior and industrial design, and features various technical fabrics such as polyurethane and vinyl on bombers, raincoats and shorts. Among the collection was a transparent vinyl rain duffle, a cerulean polyurethane vented macintosh, tourquise metallic polyurethane track pants, a black leather calfskin racing jacket and a watercolor print silk shirt (one of my favorites).
Also for his spring 2015 presentation, Ervell customized Dr. Marten leather strapped clogs to feature nylon straps in different colors. See how they were put together, get a closer look at the clothes and see the backstage moments with the models during hair, makeup and while getting ready for the presentation: Read the rest of this entry
For his upcoming spring collection Billy Reid presented with a runway show at the Refectory in the Highline Hotel, New York once again. I got a chance to be backstage, but first, the clothes.
The spring 2015 collection is said to be built from the concept of easing silhouettes and softening the structure and fabrics of the garments to create a modern, urban take on unstructured soft dressing. This resulted in comfortable outfits with light tailoring for a relaxed-chic looks as show by the above. Patterns played a role of course, as did oversized T-shirts, airy outwear, and long shorts and cropped pants paired tassel loafers, Espadrilles, K-SWISS leather sneakers or other footwear.
I’ll be sharing my favorites from the collection once NYFW wraps up, but in the meantime here’s my photo diary of being backstage at Billy Reid spring 2015. My favorite photo has to be the model selfie I stumbled upon when they were getting ready to rehearse, and possibly also Billy cooling off the models before the show by pressing iced cold cans on their necks. See those, grooming, dressing and more moments below: Read the rest of this entry
