London Street Style: The Casual Passerby With Perfect Messy Hair

London-Street-Style-Camden-Leather-6

In this street style find for Out magazine, I stopped by the treasure trove of Camden Town, home to several alternative and fast-fashion shops, international dines, and an urban labyrinth of open-air markets. I spotted a local photographer named David who caught my eye with his perfect “messy hair” look, and a nicely fitted leather jacket.

Outfit: Fall To Winter Styling & Shopping In London’s Covent Garden

london-covent-garden-shopping-style-7

Visiting London on a press trip this month, I took the opportunity to indulge in some shopping sightseeing. Exploring one of Covent Garden‘s best streets for men’s fashion and grooming, King Street (above) is filled with London brands such as Burberry Brit and Hackett London, and others you may not be too familar with such as Oliver Sweeney (luxury footwear, accessories and outerwear), Murdock London (a barbershop and grooming line, located in Hackett) and Jo Malone (fragrances and skincare).

International brands continue to set up shop here, and now include the first Opening Ceremony in Europe, 7 for All Mankind, Sandro (Parisian luxury), Lyle & Scott (Scottish knitwear) and Aesop (Melbourne grooming and skincare).

Styling myself for the fall to pre-winter weather, I went with a reversible varsity coat from Kenneth Cole that offers a wool side and a quilted one (see both below). For an extra pop of color to the look, I wore my Gap garment-dyed skinnies in forest green.

UGG‘s lightweight, black leather Westly style desert boots with blown-rubber outsoles, I was comfortable with all the exploring I did in Covent Garden and the rest of London, and I geared up with a camo Tumi Lejeune Backpack Tote to stow any goodies I found while wandering. Next shopping stop, Floral Street:

A street up from King, on Floral Street you’ll find a mix heritage and modern brands. On the west end of the street you’ll find the Paul Smith flagship, which is also Sir Paul Smith’s first one he opened and the first in fashion shop to open in Covent Garden. Also on the west, Ted Baker and Dune London (footwear and accessories). Heading east, you’ll find Spanish shoe brand Camper, British luxury accessory brand Mulberry, and Yohji Yamamoto and addias’ edgy Y-3, which just opened this year.

A handy map is available here for your next visit to Covent Garden, and more of my look below:

London Street Style: The Chunky Knit

London-Street-Style-Statement-Sweater-3

In this street style find for Out Magazine, while exploring King Street in London’s Covent Garden, a shopper’s playground of international luxury fashion and skincare brands such as Sandro, Aesop, Hackett and Europe’s first Opening Ceremony, I spotted Kareem, an Opening Ceremony intern and local blogger at The Lonely Londoners. He caught my eye in an electric blue and black sweater that he found at Beyond Retro, an excellent thrift shop with branches across the city. He pairs the look with a pair of suede Oxford boots, the fruit of a collaboration between Opening Ceremony and Timberland.

In The Bag: Accessories For Traveling From City To Rural Ecuador

travel-accessories-city-to-rural-quito-ecuador-1

In this edition of Vee Travels’ In The Bag series, the essential accessories for traveling from Quito, Ecuador’s city life to its rural, mountain regions in the outskirts. Traveling light is key, but personal style can easily be implemented to the accessories selected as they all come in several design or color options.

For the bag, I selected the local find of a woven wool cross body, as the Andean pattern called my name. Other bags such as backpacks, duffles and satchels can be found throughout both the city and rural areas of Quito (and the rest of Ecuador), but often  they will have the country or city’s name splattered on it. It was nice to find one that didn’t give away where I found it just be looking at it.

External Power – myCharge

One of the most important necessities for traveling from city to rural, an external power source.  myCharge’s Hub 6000 ($99) comes in a sleek silver body and can add over 25 hours of talk time. Called the “Swiss Army Knife of portable power devices”, you can power three gadgets at once with the built-in Apple Lightning, USB port and micro-USB port (useful for my Sony Cyber-shot I used on the trip). It’s also very light and as you can see below, about the length and width of an iPhone.

Outfit: Styling to Explore Rural Quito, Ecuador

exploring-rural-quito-1

Exploring Ecuador just before Thanksgiving with the Ministry of Tourism, I had a chance to visit the capital, Quito, and the rural outskirts such as the Pululahua Crater (a volcano that has been dormant for 3,000 years and just under an hour away from central) and the nearby Ciudad Mitad del Mundo (a historical and cultural site that is set on the equator). Quito is a city where layering and versatility are key, and was the same for these northern areas.
