5 Casual Items For Men This Summer

Summer is just around the corner, and men everywhere will be looking to up their style game to fit the new season. As always, there are plenty of new trends and ideas in menswear, but below, you can zero in on some particularly casual items and accessories to suit the carefree warm weather seasons.

Souvenir Jackets

You’ve probably noticed that bomber jackets have been extremely popular for a few years now. Well, for the spring and summer of 2016, this lineup of styles to keep an eye out for points to the souvenir jacket as a lightweight outerwear option for the months ahead. Essentially a twist on the classic bomber, souvenir jackets are typically made with satin and intricate (often floral) designs. They can be seen as a nice colorful option for those who like a few bold garments when the weather warms.

The Apple Watch

As a piece of technology, the Apple Watch hasn’t quite sold the way some expected it to (though it’s by no stretch been a failure). But as a fashion option, it’s becoming harder and harder for guys to ignore these little devices. One general look at key men’s accessories for the summertime mentioned gathering “a gadget or two,” and the Apple Watch fits the idea perfectly. Competing smartwatches are fun as well, but Apple’s endless combination of bands, watch faces, etc. just gives you more options if you’re looking at it as a style piece.

Gauze Shirts

It’s surprising that these laid-back shirts aren’t more popular with men during the summer on a regular basis. This site actually recommends them as part of a collection largely geared toward plus-size men. However, the shirts are acknowledged as great ways to stay cool when it gets hot out, and for that they’re great for men of any size. It’s just hard to feel much more relaxed than you will in one of these stylish, freeing shirts.

Safari Garments

This isn’t a literal term so much as a recommendation for general style, or more specifically color. Take a look through this slideshow of trendy looks for men this coming season and you’ll notice a lot of greens, khakis, and off-whites, all of which call to mind outdoors-y activities and the safari image.

Wide-Legged Trousers

For some time it’s seemed as if men’s pants—shorts and trousers alike, in fact—have been getting smaller and tighter. But at one preview for men’s spring and summer style here, you’ll find a strong case for wide-legged trousers. Not only can they be more comfortable, but they’re great options for the summer, offering some coolness and airflow in addition to an undeniably casual vibe.
